Don't be silly

I started a comics blog named "Don't be Silly", which I will probably abandon sooner than you can say "comicstrip". Hurry before it's too late! You can find it here, and follow it with this RSS.

Stripgenerator

There's a cool little web application called "stripgenerator". Like with a lot of other web applications, you're very limited in what you can do with it. Which sparks up creativity like nothing else! You can start a comics blog, or just play around and make standalone strips.

Here's my first attempt (direct link here).

Ecologists

This was done for a forum drawing challenge under the title "Mom! Dad! Look what I found!". I took a big breath and plunged into some experimental painting. I have to say, I sort of like the result.

Strangely enough, my conscious brain had no say in choosing the subject... My hand just kept doodling silly dinosaurs, and after a few attempts to regain control, I just decided to play along and do something with dinosaurs.

Yet another silly comic strip

My business card trio

I designed these business cards with the idea that people would be able to choose the one they like. So far it's not working too well, everyone seem to want all three of them :)

It's interesting that, when I ask people which one they would have preferred, they don't have to think about it much - one of them is always much better than the rest. But it's not always the same one; in fact, the distribution between the 3 cards is quite even. I like that.

Angry dude

Did that as a caricature for something, but I won't tell you what it means. Make of it what you will. And if you come up with something interesting, write us a comment, won't you?

Stanly & Ron

I've been wanting to do something like this for a long time - ever since I got to know Calvin & Hobbes. I had to wait for the right idea to come along though. I don't know if I'll ever do more Stanly & Ron comics, but anyway, here's the first one:

P.S.
If you don't own "The Complete Calvin and Hobbes" yet, you're wasting your life away. Get it immidiately!

From my future photo album

So we're well into April, and yesterday it snowed again. I'm afraid summer had been canceled due to bad weather.

My first strip ever!

...and hopefully the first of many. I've been wanting to try it for quite some time, making some strange attempts and starting over...So maybe it's more accurate to say that it's my first strip to ever make it out of my hard-disk :)

Some of the final inspiration came from a great comics blog I found yesterday, called Murphy Online. Simple, but smart and funny - just the way I wanted mine to be. I hope Mr. Don Carson keeps it up!

Bit of comics thingy from everyday life in the studio. I don't know how funny it is without knowing the specific people and the situation, but what the hey, I like the drawing and it keeps the blog alive :) Basically, the level designer is fighting with the animtor over who gets to work on the main file (represented by the box).

By the way: I usually only reply to comments when I have something interesting to add, but I sure read them all. So tell me what you think, guys! Your thoughts are important to me, and knowing people out there are looking at my stuff pushed me to draw more and better.
